This latest incident between a Chinese company and a German company was not uncommon. Sometimes export companies just cannot control their goods all the way to their purchasers at all time. Simply, some transport or shipping companies are not always reliable. In this case, the Chinese company was kind of unfortunate. They did send their goods by direct shipping but unaware that the shipping company has cheated them by changing of a vessel halfway, which has caused the delay. But since they have signed the CIF contract, then they are responsible for the goods to be delivered on time and in good condition. Therefore, legally they have to pay for the cost of the delay. That was why they agreed for the compensation to the German company. Actually the whole thing was that they were the victim of the incident.
